BIOGRAPHY

Dr Matteo Rubagotti is an Associate Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics at Nazarbayev University. Before that, he was a Lecturer in Control Engineering at the University of Leicester, Leicester, UK (2015-2018), an Assistant Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics at Nazarbayev University (2012-2015), and a Postdoctoral Fellow working in the research group of Prof. Alberto Bemporad, first at the University of Trento, Trento, Italy, and then at IMT Institute for Advanced Studies, Lucca, Italy (2010-2012). During his PhD, he has spent visiting periods at the Center for Automotive Research of The Ohio State University, OH, USA (2008-2009), and at the Automatic Control Lab, ETH Zurich, Zurich Switzerland (2009).

He has authored or coauthored more than 40 technical papers in leading international journals and conferences in the fields of control theory, mechatronics, and intelligent buildings. His research interests include the theory of optimal control, model predictive control, and sliding mode control, and their application to robotics (in particular, variable-impedance-actuated robots and parallel manipulators) and intelligent buildings.

Dr. Rubagotti is currently in the conference editorial boards of the IEEE Control System Society and the European Control Association, in which he serves as Associate Editor for the Conference on Decision and Control, the American Control Conference, and the European Control Conference.
