Mr. Michael Lewis is a computer scientist and cyber security specialist, with a long career in higher education and industry. He was the Managing Director for Digital Risk Intelligence, an information security firm operating out of Cairo and serving the MENA region. Lewis also helped design and launch the national cyber security agency for the State of Qatar, serving as Deputy Director for over three years.
He also served as a senior technical staff member at the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, working in national cyber security initiatives. Prior to that, Lewis was at New York University where he conducted research in information theory and “persistent search”, ran the master’s level CS immersion program, and taught computer science at the graduate and undergraduate levels, specializing in e-commerce and IT applications.
Lewis has an extensive background advising and consulting as an IT and security domain expert for organizations ranging from the International Telecommunications Union to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID), in locations throughout Europe, the U.S., Central Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
